Artists | James Holroyd / BEGIN
James Holroyd is a Manchester based Dj and recording artist BEGIN.
As a Dj James has a long standing affiliations. With Back to Basics he has held residency since 1991 and has been the Chemical Brothers Dj of choice for their tours for some 15 years.Add to this being Buggedouts! prototype Dj and regular visits to ElectricChair,Aficianado,a stint at Cafe Del Mar in 96 and you get a pretty varied picture.
His musical style is sculpted from lifelong record collecting and a no boundaries music policy.
A lover of mechanical Europe,Detroit and Sheffield coupled with the beauty of real instrumentation have led to studio experiments over his period as a dj.This has finally begun to take shape in his fledgling label BEGIN.A vinyl only baby thats soon to have its third release to critical acclaim and bloggers delight. His first release’Optical Holiday’ quickly sold out on vinyl and has appeared on RobDaBanks Radio One show and the currently available ‘Velocity’ was aired by BalearicMike on TimSweeneys Beats in Space show and Universal Language Radio. It also appeared on BBC 6music courtesy of Christopher Tubbs(check his Headsdown review below) James also remixed Sam Sallons’you may not mean to hurt me’ for fascinating rhythms
So 2010 was a good year
